05.11.2016 – 15.01.2017  Bruno Bruni and Eduardo Arroyo exhibition “Hand in Hand”

The exhibition ” Hand in Hand” combines the oeuvre of artist colleagues and friends Bruno Bruni and Eduardo Arroyo, who worked together to create collage works on paper after the Surrealist exquisite corpse method. These are wonderful works that provide space for each artist and their own personal signature. At the same time, the different approaches interact with one another in an exhilarating dialogue. A variety of style elements converge in this encounter, illustrating the relationship between humans, animals and nature in a series of drawings and vibrantly coloured collages.

Bruno Bruni 1935 born in Gradara bei Pesaro, Italy 1952 – 1959 studies at the Art Institute F. Mengaroni, Pesaro 1960 / 61 lives as a painter and works as a dishwasher 1961 – 1966 scholarship at the University of the Arts in Hamburg with Georg Gresko 1967 Lichtwark Prize, with Otto Dix and Edgar Augustin 1977 Senefelder International Prize for lithographs since 1959 numerous international solo exhibitions lives and works t in Hamburg, Hannover and Pesaro.

Eduardo Arroyo is a multi-talent; not just a painter, but also an author and stage designer. Arroyo views himself as a European citizen, and draws from art history for his work. However, literature, the worlds of comics, boxing and his own ideas – the man in a hat, the chimney-sweep, shoes, figures in silhouette, and featureless faces – provide him with an extensive repertoire for his flat, stylish pictures, which in addition to a certain absurd humour also contain a serious profundity and an enigmatic dimension.

Biography 1937 born in Madrid 1963  member of the committee “Salon de la Jeune Peinture”, Paris 1967 participation at the “Salón de Mayo”, Havanna since 1969 numerous works as stage designer 1975 DAAD scholarship, West Berlin 1977 participation at the documenta 6, Kassel 1983 “Grand Prix National de la Peinture”, Spain lives and works in Paris and Madrid.

The mission of the pictures is to lay windows between us, and world of fantasy, using a timeless fashion of feminine beauty, as a connecting and transitory motive. The show is a kind of ode on it. In today’s prestigious world, viewers can take time for a moment and forget themselves as if they were touching the world of peace outside the temporal space with a delicate blessing of pure beauty. The exhibition “The Touch of Beauty” consists of several parts. In the moment, one part of it is for viewing at the Päätalo Institut Gallery of North-Finland Literature and Cultural Centre in Taivalkoski, Lapland. The exhibition there is the second part of the bigger project what took place at the beginning of the year and was called “Eduard Zentsiku´s masterclass”, which one was born by the students and the artist cooperation at Illuka School. Thanks to the help of the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Tuglas´ Society those works from the master class had seen also in other Finnish cities. The exhibition “The Touch of Beauty” has based on the desire to exhibit it in our country and around the world, to introduce Estonia and contemporary Estonian art. The plans for the next year are a wider presentation of the exhibition abroad.
